Coronavirus death toll crosses 58, 000, spreads to 205 countries

KATHMANDU: Coronavirus which broke out in Wuhan City of China last December has already spread to 205 countries.

According to the latest figures collated by Johns Hopkins University, the deadly virus has claimed 58, 901 and infected 1,099,389 people as of Saturday morning.

As many as 5, 973 people died and over 59, 141 were infected in the last 24 hours globally.

According to Worldometer, 810, 386 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 39, 439 are critical.

Similarly, 226, 106 have recovered after treatment.

Italy is the worst-hit in terms deaths. The total death toll in the country has reached 14, 681 after 766 died in the 24 hours. As many as 119, 827 have been infected with 4, 585 new cases.

Currently, 85,388 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals, of which 4, 068 are critical. Meanwhile, 19, 758 have returned home after recovery.

Likewise, the death toll has increased sharply in the United States of America, of late.

According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of deaths in America has reached 7, 392 after 1, 321 died in the last 24 hours.

With 32, 210 new cases, the number of coronavirus cases has reached 276, 995 so far.

A total of 257, 412 are currently undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 5, 787 are critical. Meanwhile, 12, 283 have recovered after treatment.

Spain is the second worst-hit in terms of deaths. The death toll in Spain has reached 11, 198 after 850 died in the last 24 hours.  The number of infected cases in the country has reached 199,199 after 7, 134 new cases were reported.

Currently, 77, 448 are undergoing treatment, of which 6, 416 are critical.

Similarly, the death toll in France from coronavirus has reached 1,120 in the last 24 hours, taking the total to 6, 507.

As many as 64,338 people have been infected after 5, 233 new cases were reported in a single day.

The condition of 6, 662 among those infected is critical. Meanwhile, 14, 800 have recovered after treatment.
