Province MP Rawal nabbed in attempted rape allegation

KAILALI: District Police Office has arrested Akkal Rawal, a Province MP from the ruling Nepal Communist Party for Far Western Province in an attempted rape allegation.

The police arrested as per a written complaint against him made by a woman on Feb. 27.

SP Sudip Giri who is also the head of District Police Office Kalali told Khabarhub that the Kailali District Court had already given permission for the arrest on Feb. 27.

Formerly skipping the public appearance, MP Rawal, before his arrest, was heading to take part in the Province Assembly on Wednesday.

According to the police, the Provincial Assembly of Far Western Province and its Speaker have already been informed about the arrest.

Rawal was elected an MP from Constituency No. 2 of Achham. He was made a candidate from united leftist alliance and he hails from former Nepal Communist Maoist.
