LALITPUR: With the government’s probing still going on over the Nirmala Panta’s rape and murder case, a girl from Lalitpur has shaved her head seeking justice for Nirmala Panta who was allegedly raped and murdered in Kanchanpur some 19 months back.

The campaign seeking justice for Nirmala Panta, 13, who was allegedly murdered after a rape has ranged from the massive protests in her district Kanchanpur to capital.

The case became an issue for discussion both in VAW Campaigns, seminars and parliaments, yet the police have been ‘gathering’ information and claiming ‘close to the criminal’ only.

Concluding that failure to nab the criminal behind Nirmala’s murder after rape Sarita Khadka, Sitapaila Kathmandu has shaved her head seeking justice for Nirmala.

“The government’s inability to book the criminals has made all women unsafe and the morale of the criminals has gone up,” Khadka said shedding light on why she took a strange decision, “I want to draw the attention of the authority and demand to ensure the security of women.”

She hoped the government which had been unable to give justice to Nirmala even after 19 months of her murder would go for substantive action after such pressures from the public.

Another woman right campaigner Sabitri Subedi had shaved her head for Nirmala last year.
