District court orders custody remand of murder accused of journalist Dekendra



DAILEKH: The Dailekh District Court has ordered one of the accused in journalist Dekendra Raj Thapa’s murder to be remanded in judicial custody.

A single bench of judge Dandapani Lamichhane made a verdict in this regard, ordering that Bam Bahadur Khadka, one of the murder accused of journalist Thapa, be remanded to custody.

Khadka of Dullu municipality-6, a cadre of the then Maoist, was arrested recently from Kailali acting on the district court’s order to arrest four murder accused on the loose since December 7, 2014, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Hari Bahadur Oli.

On August 11, 2004, Thapa was thrashed to death allegedly by the then Maoist cadres.

Thapa’s body was recovered from a forest at the then Dwari VDC-1 in Dailekh district four years later.
