DPM Pokharel requests Prachanda to agree on joint proposal

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Part (NCP) Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda and Deputy Prime Minister and Secretariat member Ishwor Pokharel held a meeting at Khumaltar on Friday.

During the meeting with Prachanda, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel requested the Executive Chairman to agree on a joint proposal.

Earlier on Thursday, NCP General Secretary and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel and Deputy Leader of the Parliamentary Party Subas Nembang had separate discussions with Prachanda.

Prachanda had submitted a political proposal at the secretariat meeting held on November 13. Prime Minister and NCP Chairman KP Oli had responded to Prachanda’s proposal on November 28.

A majority of secretariat members, including Prachanda, are in favor of discussing both reports while the secretariat members close to Oli are trying to appease Prachanda to withdrawn the proposal and table a common proposal.

Dahal in his political dossier has stated that the almost two-thirds majority government could not live up to the expectations of the people, failed to control corruption, irregularities, coronavirus pandemic, and maintain good governance.

Similarly, Oli in his proposal has pointed out Prachanda’s checkered past life since the insurgency and leveled various accusations against him.

On November 13, Prachanda had tabled a 19-long political proposal, pointing out at various issues on Prime Minister Oli at the Secretariat meeting.

After 10 days in the Secretariat meeting held on November 28, Oli had presented a 38-long page political dossier in response to Dahal’s proposal.

In recent months, the ruling NCP has witnessed an intra-party dispute over the appointment of ambassadors, a Cabinet reshuffle, a dispute in Karnali Province, a vendetta among party cadres in Tarai districts, RAW Chief’s meeting with PM Oli.
