Deuba asks PM Oli to investigate irregularities in medical supplies procurement



KATHMANDU: President of the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC), Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged Prime Minister KP Oli to investigate irregularities in the procurement of medical supplies.

Deuba also asked the prime minister to assess the government’s weaknesses in its efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

NC President Deuba made the suggestion to the PM during a meeting of experts and leaders called by the latter at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday.

Deuba also urged PM Oli to make a review of the shortcomings and the progress of the government’s efforts to stem the spread of coronavirus pandemic while emphasizing the need to investigate the corruption in the procurement of the medical supplies.

He asked PM Oli to take action against those involved in financial irregularities and suggested the government to expand the scope of PCR tests.

The NC President also raised the pathetic condition of the quarantine facilities while urging the government to focus on the rescue of Nepalis stranded abroad.

NC President Deuba also drew the prime minister’s attention towards the ongoing hunger-strike of the youths.
