Medicine worth Rs 60 sold at Rs 2,400

SINDHUPALCHOWK: The pharmacists of Sindhupalchowk are found black-marketing the medicines during the lockdown.

The recent supervision and market check of medical supplies in the district carried out by District Public Health Office and Health Unit of Bahrabise Municipality found Setidevi Medical Ramche selling the medicines at an undue price.

According to Mayor Nim Funjo Sherpa, the medical shop was raided after getting a report that it had been charging the customer more than the market price of the medicines.

“We got the report that the medical shop was charging high to the customers and we sent our people to buy the medicine,” Mayor Sherpa said, “We found the shop charging Rs 2,400 for the medicine which had only Rs 60 as marked price.”

According to the sources, medicine was also provided by the government free of cost and even if they are sold they cost Rs 60 only.

Setidevi Medical has been selling the medicine of Rs 60 at the cost of Rs 2,400. The shop did not give a receipt to the customers

Similarly, Kuber Medical Ramche-9 was found to have run by a non-authorized person.

Most of the medical shops were found selling medicines without physician’s prescriptions.

Mayor Sherpa informed that five medical shops were found operating illegally. He added that the Municipal Health Unit would inform and recommend the District Administration Office and District Public Health Office to take action against those medical shops.
