Nepal’s COVID-19 tally hits 15,491 with 232 new cases

KATHMANDU: Nepal has reported 232 new positive cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, Ministry of Health and Population said on Saturday.

Spokesperson at the Ministry Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that with the addition of the case, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally now stands at 15,491.

According to Dr. Gautam, tests conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu have confirmed coronavirus in 114 people.

Among them are 37 from Achham, three from Dadeldhura, three from Doti, nine from Gulmi, six from Kanchanpur, four from Nawalparasi, 16 from Palpa, six from Pyuthan, four from Rupandehi, 16 from Sarlahi and 12 from Sindhupalchowk.

Similarly, seven people tested positive for coronavirus in a test conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences. Among them are one from Morang and six from Siraha.

A total of seven people tested positive for coronavirus in Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar. Among them are one is from Ilam, one from Jhapa and five from Morang.

Likewise, four people from Jhapa tested positive at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Biratnagar.

Dr. Gautam said that 51 people tested positive at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Rajbirat. Of them, 36 are from Saptari and 15 from Siraha.

According to Dr. Gautam, 15 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Janakpur. They are all from Dhanusha.

Similarly, 13 people, six are from Chitwan and seven from Nawalparasi East, tested positive in the laboratory of Bharatpur Hospital.

In the test conducted at the Provincial Tuberculosis Center, Pokhara, eight people tested positive for coronavirus.
Among them are three from Baglung, three from Myagdi, one from Syangja and one from Tanahun.

Likewise, five people, 3 from Palpa and 2 from Pyuthan, tested positive in the test conducted at the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Rupandehi.

A total of seven people tested positive at Bheri Hospital, Nepalgunj. Among them are five from Banke and two from Rolpa.

Similarly, one person from Dailekh has tested positive in Dailekh laboratory.

Meanwhile, 272 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from different hospitals in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus. With this, 6,415 have been discharged across the country so far.

In the last 24 hours, 4,050 samples have been tested through PCR, said Spokesperson Dr. Gautam.

At present, 9,042 people are in isolation and 33,125 are in quarantines across the country.

Nepal’s death toll stands at 34 with two deaths in the past 24 hours.
