Huts, sheds built in forest areas cleared in Dadeldhura



DADELDHURA: The Division Forest Office Dadeldhura has been utilizing the lockdown period by demolishing the huts and shelters made encroaching the forest areas.

Many huts and shelters made encroaching the community and national forest in different parts of the districts have come under notice of Division Forest Office Dadeldhura and are being destroyed during lockdown.

The office has also initiated action to curb the encroachment and destruction of forest of Churia and Mahabharat ranges. The surveillance is made stricter than before which has resulted in the arrest of the smugglers.

According to Bishnu Prasad Acharya, the Chief of the Dadeldhura DFO, the surveillance has successfully booked many people involved in destroying forest taking advantage of the panic created by the COVID-19.

“We have arrested both the violators and wood logs they were planning to smuggle,” Acharya said, “those arrested will be sued as per the Forest Act.”

The Basanta Hariyali Community Forest of Alital-4, Jaltunda and Sundari Community Forest located in Parashuram Municipality-8 got large number of logs made ready for smuggling during lockdown confiscated.

The forest officials opine that the forests cannot be kept safe unless the local consumers and the community people join hands with the efforts made by the forest office.
