Nepali workers hit hard by movement control order in Malaysia



KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Police have arrested the Nepalis who were preparing to return home after their visas expired, according to the Nepali Labor Unity Society, Malaysia.

In a press release issued on Saturday, the society said that Nepali workers were in trouble after Malaysia issued a ‘Movement Control Order’ to control the infection of COVID-19.

It is mentioned in the press release that after the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), the Nepali workers who were stranded after their visas expired are being arrested by the Malaysian Police terming them as illegal.

The committee has also complained that various companies have not provided even the minimum expenses for food to the workers and have cut the salaries of the workers who are in duty during the crucial time.

The committee has also drawn the attention of the Nepali Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to provide proper justice to the Nepalis and to create an environment for those who are stranded after the expiration of their visas to return to Nepal as soon as possible.
