COVID-19 litmus countries



KATHAMANDU: COVID-19 has taken lives of 53,238 people worldwide.

World Health Organization has declared it a pandemic and has asked all the people worldwide to take all precautions.

Coronaviurs has reached to 204 countries and territories, yet there are some countries in the world untouched by this pandemic.

Safe so far 

When almost all of the European nations are hit hard by the pandemic with Italy as the most affected and Spain, Germany, France, UK, Switzerland in the hard-hit list, there are few countries which are not enlisted in the corona infected list.

John Hopkins University’s latest update on coronavirus shows that out of 193 UN member states, 19 countries have not verified any corona infection so far.

Most of such countries are small and island nations. North Korea has declared itself a Corona Free Nation as it says it does not have any case of        covid-19 infection so far. However, international communities have remained skeptic about the claim as the data is often manipulated by the state-controlled media there. Media don’t have free access to the news there. North Korea claims that wise decision of its leadership that took to border seal immediately after corona outbreak in China helped the country remain safe.

Most of the small and island nations countries claim to have retained the corona virus free status due to the high alert they have shown at the outbreak worldwide.

Most of the African countries are struggling hard against COVID-19,  Lesotho, South Sudan, Yemen, Sierra Leone, Burundi, and Malawi and the region of Western Sahara to date have not reported any  such cases so far.

In Asia, countries such as Turkmenistan, Tajikistan,Yaman and North Korea also have no reported cases of COVID-19 till date.

Most of the countries of Ocenia often crowed with tourists Soloman Island, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Federated States of Micronesia, the Cook Islands, Niue, Marshall Island and Tuvalu are also free from this pandemic’s touch so far.
