Four including ex-DIG Shah dragged to court for graft



KATHMANDU: A graft case has been filed against four persons including former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Mahesh Bikram Shah at Special Court in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the case against Shah, Sub Inspector of Police Dipendra Prasad Paneru, Head Constable Keshav Singh Airee and the then account Sanjeev Bishankhe at Fund and Account Control Office, Sindhuli.

The anti-graft body has accused DIG Shah, Paneru and Airee of misusing money meant for salary and incentive of police personnel on different occasions. They have been accused of embezzling a total of Rs 3.3 million.

The anti-graft body has demanded six years imprisonment for them along with confiscation of the embezzled amount and an equal fine.

CIAA also dragged the then account Sanjeev Bishankhe at Fund and Account Control Office, Sindhuli to court for supporting the act. Rs 50,000 fine and one-year jail term has been sought against him.
