Covid-19: Govt suspends labor permits for time-being

KATHMANDU: The government has suspended issuing labor permits for overseas employment until further notice.

The government took the decision as the coronavirus which broke out from China has spread globally in recent times.

Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Rameshwor Raya Yadav informed that the government has suspended issuing labor permits until the fear of Covid-19 subsides.

He said that Nepali workers will not be supplied to countries that are at risk of Covid-19 infection.

Minister Yadav said that the government has urged people not to travel abroad except for an emergency. Likewise, the Supreme Court has also ordered a suspension of flights to the coronavirus affected countries.

“Therefore, we for sure suspended issuing labor permit for the time being,” he said.
