Heavy rain likely in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini



KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds are currently affecting the country, and the monsoon low-pressure line remains slightly north of its average position near Nepal’s Terai region.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather is generally cloudy across the country. Moderate rainfall is occurring at some places in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and at a few places in Koshi, Karnali, Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces.

The Department said the weather will remain generally cloudy nationwide this afternoon. Moderate rain and snowfall are likely at a few places in the mountainous region, while many hilly areas may receive moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Some places in the Terai are also likely to experience moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning.

It has also forecast heavy rainfall in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, as well as in the hilly and Terai areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. One or two places in the hilly areas of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may also receive heavy rainfall.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country. Moderate to heavy rain and snowfall may occur at a few places in the mountainous region.

Similarly, many places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in Madhes Province, are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. A few places in the hilly areas of Karnali and the hilly and Terai areas of Sudurpaschim may also receive moderate to heavy rainfall.

The Department has further warned that one or two places in the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and in the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini Province, may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.
