Melamchi landslide update: All 8 bodies retrieved, injured brought to Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: All the bodies of eight workers who went missing in a landslide in Melamchi municipality-11 in Sindupalchowk ditrict have been retrieved.

According to DPO, Sindhupalchowk, the deceased are Pradip Chaurasiya of Birgunj, Bikram Thing, Man Bahadur Rumba, Rajendra Chaurasiya, Sonam Lama, Shiva Balak, Siman Ghalan and Indian national Rajendra Chudhary.

They had been deployed for the construction of a covered hall at Pipalbot.

Indian national Baru Sah who was rescued alive has been brought to Kathmandu on a flight of Air Dynasty for treatment, said District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk.

As many as eight workers died after the landslide buried their shed near Melamchi Bazaar at the wee hours of Monday.

The disaster occurred after the landslide triggered by incessant rains buried a makeshift shanty where they were sleeping on Sunday night.
