Govt expands scope of COVID-19 testing

KATHMANDU: The government has expanded the scope of coronavirus testing.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, said that the coronavirus test will be now conducted on patients visiting hospitals for treatment.

According to Dr. Gautam, the tests will be performed on patients suffering from chronic diseases like cancer, diabetics, patients coming to the hospital for emergency services and patients admitted to the ICU.

Similarly, people in the neighborhood area of coronavirus infection and health workers will also be tested for coronavirus, said Dr. Gautam.

Dr. Gautam said that arrangements have been made to treat the patients in government, community and private hospitals through the discussions of the Clinical Coordination Committee.
