NPC’s full meeting approves 15th periodic plan

KATHMANDU: With new game-changer projects, the government has passed the approach paper of the 15th periodic plan on Monday.

The NPC meeting chaired by its Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli passed the five-year plans with the commitment to advance the development projects in the country in a more systematic fashion.

On the occasion, PM Oli hoped that the poverty rate in the country would be reduced with more employment opportunities thanks to rise in production and productivity due to the development activities to be carried out during the period.

The PM also directed the officials concerned to incorporate programs and projects to materialize the dream of prosperous Nepal happy Nepali through the fulfillment of their needs.

On the occasion, the PM directed to address the bottlenecks of human resources development while calling it the main challenge of development.

Asking to bring the economically and socially marginalized communities to the mainstream of development, the PM expected materialization of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis through the implementation of the projects.

NPC’s vice-chairman Prof Dr. Pushpa Raj Kandel, Finance Minister Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, PM’s chief advisor and others were also present on the occasion.

In the five-year plan, the efforts to be taken to promote investments, create employment, maintain trade balance and end poverty and inequalities have been stated in the sequential order. Likewise, social development besides infrastructure development are also mentioned with due importance in the approach paper.

Furthermore, 18 projects have been listed as game-changer projects.

Those game-changer projects include Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Project, Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Project, Upper Arun Hydropower Project, up-gradation of East-West Highway, digital Nepal and others.
