170 Nepalis opt for evacuation from China’s Hubei



KATHMANDU: Some 170 Nepalis in the Hubei province of China have applied to be evacuated from the province that is currently reeling under the scare of coronavirus.

Issuing a notice on Saturday, the Embassy had asked all Nepali nationals currently residing in the province to fill up an evacuation form and sent it to the Embassy by this morning.

According to DCM Sushil Kumar Lamshal at the Embassy in Beijing, some 170 Nepali nationals have opted to be evacuated, adding that the applications are being verified.

The Nepali Embassy in Beijing said that chartered flights will be arranged for the evacuation of Nepali nationals.

Meanwhile, China’s infections from the coronavirus outbreak increased by a record, up by 2,590 cases on Saturday to top 14,000.

The latest death toll in China had reached 304, state broadcaster CCTV said today, citing the country’s National Health Commission.
