Poudel arrest case: NC to launch protest programs



DAMUALI: Nepali Congress (NC) Tanahu district has stated it will launch protest programs to protest the arrest of NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel.

The party is holding a meeting at 11 am on Thursday to announce additional agitation programs in protest of Poidel’s arrest.

Senior leader Poudel, who was arrested in Tanahun today, was released in the evening.

Police had taken Poudel under control on charge of defying the prohibitory orders in his home district, Tanahun.

Soon after his release, he alleged the government for abusing the authority saying that he would go to inaugurate the bridge tomorrow morning.

He had reached there to inaugurate a bridge over Buldi connecting Talghare and Dumsi in Vyas.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba condemned the police highhandedness and arrest of NC senior leader Poudel.

“I condemn the police action,” NC President Deuba said in a statement on Wednesday labelling the arrest an act of totalitarianism.

Likewise, NC cadres held demonstration in Kathmandu protesting Poudel’s arrest this evening.
