Ministry to develop infrastructures at Pashupati area: Minister Bhattarai



KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, has said that development construction activities are going to be forwarded in order bring in religious tourists at Pashupati area.

Minister Bhattarai shared that the Ministry has formed a technical committee to give final shape to the proposed master plan at a program jointly organized by Pashupati Area Development Trust and Everest Bank to handover the environment-friendly crematorium.

The Committee has to submit the report at the Ministry within three months after holding discussion with bodies concerned including locals.

He opined, “The cabinet has decided to open the religious and cultural heritages by adopting health safety measures.”

It takes around 100 to 150 kg of firewood to cremate a body in the environment-friendly crematorium.

Around 400 kg firewood is needed to cremate a body at Bhasmeshwor and Aryaghat, said Executive Director of the PADT, Dr Ghanshyam Khatiwada.

The Everest Bank constructed the environment-friendly crematorium at a cost of Rs 7.5 million and handed over it to Member-Secretary of the PADT, Dr Pradeep Dhakal.

According to the PADT, it takes around one hour to cremate a body in an eco-friendly crematorium.

Those died from coronavirus infection are being cremated in the electric crematorium.

The PADT further said that preparation has been made to cremate those died from Covid-19 in the environment-friendly crematorium brought into operation from today.
