KATHMANDU: Spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Narayan Kaji Shrestha has stressed the need to resume dialogue to avert party split.

Speaking to media, NCP Spokesperson Shrestha said that the news about the grave crisis in the party was true.

“The news that Prime Minister and party chairman KP Oli has recently suggested to run independently as different faction is true,” NCP spokesperson Shrestha said, adding, “As reported to us by Chairman Prachanda, PM Oli has said that he would not abide by any decisions made on the basis of majority whether they are the decisions made by the central committee, standing committee or the party secretariat.”

He added PM Oli threatened to take further action provided the committee decides against him and they have to be prepared to face the consequences.

“It’s better to get separated in good terms, as there is no point in going ahead together,” Shrestha quoted Prachanda as saying.

In the meantime, spokesperson Shrestha appealed all to collaborate on their part to retain unification and strengthen the party ahead.
