Clinical trial of ‘COVID-19 drug’ produced in Nepal to be held



KATHMANDU: A clinical trial of a drug produced in Nepal said to be useful in the treatment of the coronavirus will be held.

The Nepal Health Research Council has stated that a clinical trial is being conducted for a drug named ‘Favipiravir’ produced in Nepal.

Dr. Pradeep Gyawali, Member Secretary of the council, said that the third phase of a clinical trial for the drug that is used in Japan, China, Russia and other countries will be held.

He said that the ministry has given approval to the council to conduct a clinical trial after the company producing the drug submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Health.

Apart from this, a clinical trial of Ayurvedic medicine produced in Nepal will also be held.
