Kathmandu Valley reports 31 new COVID-19 cases



KATHMANDU: As many as 31 more persons in the Kathmandu Valley have tested positive for the COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

Speaking at the regular press briefing on Sunday, Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population, 22 people from Kathmandu, eight from Lalitpur and one from Bhaktapur have been found infected with coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, in 8,861 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests performed in the last 24 hours, as many as 246 persons were found with the virus infection, said Dr. Gautam.

The new cases were detected in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bardiya, Darchula, Gorkha, Rautahat, Sindhuli, Bhaktapur , Kaski, Baglung, Lamjung, Syangja, Tanahun, Nawalparasi (East) and Rupandehi, Sunsari, Morang, Dhanusa, Chitwan, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Parsa, Bajhang, Doti, Kailali.

Meanwhile, 111 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in various health facilities nationwide were discharged in the last 24 hours after recovering from the virus infection. The recovery rate now stands at 71.08 per cent.

Currently, there are 5,672 active cases of COVID-19, and 10,934 are in various quarantine centers.

With this, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 20,332 including 14,603 cases of recovery and 57 death cases.
