KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), which was stalled in the afternoon, has resumed.

The meeting earlier held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar was stalled as senior leaders remained occupied in meetings.

When senior leaders were engaged in a meeting, Standing Committee members remained busy in “internal discussions” according to part leader Raghuji Pant.

Prime Minister KP Oli, however, has abstained from the meeting today.

This morning PM Oli held consultation with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and in the afternoon, he called a meeting of the cabinet, which then decided to prorogue the budget session of the Federal Parliament.

In recent times, the NCP has been entangled in intra-party differences with Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam demanding PM Oli resignation.
