KATHMANDU: Tokha municipality has decided to provide Rs 50 per kilograms in incentive to those who collect locusts and bring them to the municipality ward office.
Tokha municipality, which lies to the north of the Kathmandu Valley, took a decision to this effect in an effort to control the locusts harmful to crops.
Mayor Prakash Adhikari said the municipality has announced this incentive as part of campaign to curb the pests.
Similarly, the municipality has advised farmers to use pesticides including Malathion, Chlorpyrifos, Boric Acid in their crops from 6 am to 8 am in the morning and 6 pm to 7 pm in the evening to save their crops.
Meanwhile, the farmers have been advised to collect locusts and provide them to the poultry claiming that they are rich in protein.
