KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has been stalled today as well.

The meeting which sat for not more than an hour at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar has been stalled as senior leaders remained busy in separate meetings.

Party leader Raghuji Pant said that the Standing Committee members are currently in internal discussions on issues, including the cabinet decision to prorogue the ongoing budget session.

Disgruntled leaders of the ruling NCP have held separate meeting with Prime Minister KP Oli in a bid to narrow down the intra-party row.

Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhapanath Khanal, Vice Chairman Bam Dev Gautam and General Secretary Bishnu Poudel have held a meeting in an effort to end the disputes.

The party’s Standing Committee meeting has been held at a time when the NCP is caught in a quagmire following serious difference among the top brass, particularly between Prime Minister Oli and NCP Chairman Dahal, senior leader Nepal-led camp.

PM Oli has been facing hard time as most of the influential members, besides seeking his resignation, asked him to elucidate his earlier remarks against India, which the party leaders claimed ‘damaged’ NCP’s image.

Intra-party feuds have resurfaced in the NCP after Chairman and Prime Minister Oli vehemently accused India of trying to topple his government.

Senior leaders have been demanding the resignation of PM Oli.
