Hundreds of Nepalis forced to spend nights under open sky in Kuwait

KUWAIT: Hundreds of Nepali migrant workers including women have been forced to spend nights under the open sky in Kuwait after the companies where they were working sent them home on unpaid leave.

They have expressed grievances saying that Nepali Embassy in Kuwait did not listen to their woes and even though they repeatedly appealed to it for their rescue.

According to Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), 1, 500 Nepali migrant workers have been forced to spend their night under trucks.

Employment proving companies have already sent home 32,000 Nepali migrant workers on unpaid leave, informed Dil Kumar Pakhrin, General Secretary of NRNA, Kuwait.

Almost 70,000 Nepali migrant workers have been working in Kuwait.

According to Worldometer, Death toll from Coronavirus pandemic has climbed to 26 after 2 died in the last 24 hours in Kuwait. With 284 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 4, 024.

Currently, 2, 459 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 66 are critical. Meanwhile, 1, 539 have recovered after treatment.
