KATHMANDU: A wide-body aircraft of Nepal Airline Corporation (NAC) flew to Australia today taking Australian citizens stranded in Nepal.

The national carrier’s aircraft Airbus 330 took off at 5:30 pm on Wednesday from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to Australia via Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia carrying some 250 Australians and some New Zealanders.

This is the first time that NA’s wide-body aircraft of this model is flying to Australia.

The aircraft will fly back to Nepal tomorrow night.

The Australian Embassy in Kathmandu had coordinated with the Nepal government to rescue Australian citizens stranded in various places across Nepal due to the nationwide lockdown enforced to prevent the possible outbreak of COVID-19.
