NA to start commercial flight to Narita from Monday

KATHMANDU: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), national flag carrier, will commence its maiden commercial Kathmandu-Narita flight from Monday, officials have said.

The national flag carrier had conducted Kathmandu to Osaka flight on August 29, 2019 onwards but in view of the high volume of Nepalis in Japan and Nepal-bound tourists, the NA had shut down its flight on this route.

NAC will begin its scheduled Kathmandu-Narita flight from Monday, said NAC Spokesperson Archana Khadka.

According to Khadka, Osaka International Airport appears to be far for the Nepalis in Japan and Nepal-bound tourists.

Khadka said that the Kathmandu-Narita flight is likely to facilitate several Nepalis in Japan to travel to and from Kathmandu as Tokyo has relatively higher number of Nepalis than other cities in Japan.

She informed that over 220 people have already made pre-booking for the Kathmandu-Narita flight while 268 in Japan have already purchased the tickets to fly Kathmandu from Tokyo.

According to her, NA’s wide body A-330 will conduct Kathmandu-Narita flight thrice a week — on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The 274-seater aircraft will depart from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu at 10:25 pm and will land at Narita International Airport at 11 am (local time) in Japan.

The roundtrip airfare of Kathmandu-Narita has been priced at Rs 73,000 as the promotional fare.
