Govt allots Rs 1. 277 bln for sanitary pads

KATHMANDU: The government said it has allocated 1 billion, 277 million and 337 thousand rupees for the distribution of sanitary pads to female students.

Minister for Education Giriraj Mani Pokharel inaugurated the program by distributing sanitary pads to female students at Siddhi Mangal Secondary School recently.

The Ministry of Education has launched the distribution of sanitary pads to minimize female dropout rate caused by the lack of sanitary pads, said Minister Pokharel.

The sanitary pads were distributed in community schools in line with the Sanitary Pad Distribution and Management Procedure 2076.

A total of 14, 37000 female students will be benefited from this program, according to the education ministry.
