Five more women succumb to COVID-19

KATHMANDU: Five more people infected with COVID-19 have died in the course of treatment in various places of the country.

An 82-year-old woman of Damak municipality-3 has died in the course of treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan.

The octogenarian who tested positive for COVID-19 on December 22 has succumbed to the virus at 7 am today, according to Dr Ashish Shrestha, the deputy spokesperson of the hospital. She had been hospitalized on the same day her PCR report came out positive.

Similarly, a 75-year-old woman of Gorkha municipality-6, Gorkha died in the course of treatment on November 27, according to the Ministry of Social Development of Gandaki Pradesh.

Likewise, three coronavirus-infected people have died in the course of treatment at COVID-19 Special Hospital in Rupandehi district.

The deceased are a 53-year-old woman from Butwal Sub Metropolitan City-7 and a 50-year-old woman of Chandrauta, Kapilvastu.

According to Dr Bishnu Gautam, the spokesperson of the hospital, the patient of Kapilvastu was hospitalized on Monday and died later at night.

Similarly, the woman from Butwal who was admitted on November 28 died in the course of treatment on Monday afternoon, said Dr Gautam.

She was also suffering from diabetes.

Likewise, a 55-year-old woman has died in the course of treatment at Butwal COVID Special Hospital at 8:30 am today.

Originally from Tulsipur Sub Metropolitan City-5, she had been admitted to the hospital on November 29 after she complained of respiratory complications.

Her report of PCR test had come out positive for coronavirus on Novermber 26.
