NCP Secretariat meeting underway at Baluwatar

KATHMANDU: The Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has begun at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

Top-notch leaders will dwell on the separate political proposals submitted by chairman duo KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the meeting.

The meeting was earlier scheduled to be held at the party head office in Dhumbarahi. However, the venue was later changed to Baluwatar citing “security reasons”.

According to sources, both the factions led by Oli and Dahal-Nepal, will put forth their bottom-line as the party is said to be heading towards a decisive juncture.

It is learnt that five secretary members – Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Jhala Nath Khanal, Madav Nepal, Bamdev Gautam and Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha have prepared a joint written response to Oli’s proposal.

Executive Chairman Dahal will present the responses to the 38-page long political dossier tabled by Oli at the Secretariat meeting held on November 28.

Dahal is also likely to seek resignation of the prime minister in the meeting today apart from passing comments on Oli’s political dossier, said a leader close to Dahal.

In the political proposal submitted in the Secretariat meeting on November 13, Dahal had stated that Prime Minister Oli has to ‘sacrifice for the party and the country’.

Dahal in his political dossier has stated that the almost two-thirds majority government could not live up to the expectations of the people, failed to control corruption, irregularities, coronavirus pandemic and maintain good governance.

Similarly, Oli in his proposal, has pointed out on Prachanda’s checkered past life since the insurgency and leveled various accusations against him.

On November 13, Prachanda had tabled a 19-long political proposal, pointing out at various issues on Prime Minister Oli at the Secretariat meeting.

After 10 days in the Secretariat meeting held on November 28, Oli had presented a 38-long page political dossier in response to Dahal’s proposal.

In recent months, the ruling NCP has witnessed intra-party dispute over the appointment of ambassadors, Cabinet reshuffle, a dispute in Karnali Province, vendetta among party cadres in Tarai districts, RAW Chief’s meeting with PM Oli.
