Governor Adhikari seeks cooperation for implementation of monetary policy

KATHMANDU: Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari, has said that meaningful cooperation of all is needed for the practical implementation of the monetary policy for the current fiscal year.

After the new Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel showed interest in the implementation of the monetary policy, Governor Adhikari said this while discussing with the stakeholders before the first quarterly review of the monetary policy.

During the discussion, he said that the main need of the hour is to implement the monetary policy in the midst of the discussion that it has come to overshadow all the policies.

Stating that the central bank has presented itself as a facilitator rather than a regulator to provide relief and encouragement to the entrepreneurs who are facing problems due to COVID-19, he urged the banks and financial institutions as well as the entrepreneurs to assimilate the same sentiment.

He said, “Entrepreneurship will suffer and leave businesses due to COVID-1. We left the traditional thing and presented ourselves as a facilitator rather than a regulator. We are committed to protecting and encouraging entrepreneurs in their regulatory role.”
