963 more Nepalis living abroad infected with COVID-19 this week



LONDON: As many as 963 more Nepalis have been infected with COVID-19 this week. Out of total infected, 450 Nepalis are from Romania, Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) said.

According to Dr Sanjeev Sapkota, Non-Resident Nepali Association Health Committee Coordinator, Nepalis living in Romania, Poland, Spain, Qatar, India, Canada and the UK have been infected with the coronavirus this week. However, no Nepali has lost their lives due to coronavirus.

So far, 43,569 Nepalis living in 42 countries have been infected with the coronavirus. Out of them, 39,565 persons (92 percent) have been recovered from the pandemic virus, according to the Health Committee.

Similarly, 284 Nepalis from 19 countries have died of coronavirus infection so far.

NRNA has urged everyone not to go outside other than the most urgent work. The UK, France, Belgium and Germany have witnessed the second phase of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Likewise, 126,989 Nepalis from 33 countries have been rescued through the joint initiative of the Non-Resident Nepali Association, Government of Nepal and Nepali diplomatic missions abroad.
