MAHOTTARI: A ward secretary has been arrested for raping a woman in Mahottari.
According to Tika Bahadur KC, Superintendent of Police, District Police Office, Mahottari, Ward Secretary Mithilesh Yadav was arrested on Wednesday night on charge of raping a Dalit woman of Musahari Tol in Bhangha Municipality, Ward No. 9 of Mahottari.
“It has been reported that an attempt was made to rape the woman on Wednesday night while she was returning home from the market,” said SP KC.
According to Superintendent of Police KC, Yadav was arrested on the basis of the woman’s statement and complaint.
Yadav is currently in police custody. According to locals, Yadav had consumed alcohol at night.
