315 diagnosed with COVID-19, Nepal’s caseload at 20,086

KATHMANDU: A total of 315 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the past 24 hours, Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population said.

Speaking at a regular press briefing on Saturday afternoon, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that Nepal’s coronavirus caseload has reached 20,086 with the new cases.

Dr. According to Gautam, one from Sunsari tested positive in tests conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, and reports of one person from Jhapa, 17 people from Ilam and five people from Siraha came positive in tests at Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar.

Tests at Provincial Public Health Laboratory in Biratnagar confirmed that one from Jhapa, five from Ilam, one from Udaipur and two from Morang have contracted coronavirus.

Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said that coronavirus was confirmed in seven persons from Saptari in tests at Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Rajbiraj.

Likewise, one from Bara, 62 from Parsa and one from Rautahat tested positive at Narayani Hospital Birgunj and coronavirus has been diagnosed in 43 people from Bajhang, 28 people from Achham, 9 people from Kailali, 8 people from Kanchanpur and 2 people from Kathmandu at the National Public Health Laboratory Teku.

Coronavirus has been confirmed in 27 from Kailali, one from Kavrepalanchok and two from Ramechhap in tests at Dhulikhel Hospital’s laboratory.

Similarly, one from Kathmandu tested positive at Nepal Police Hospital, three from Parsa at Star Hospital, Sanepa and two from Kathmandu and one each from Bhaktapur and Parsa in tests at Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital.

Dr. Gautam said that one from Kaski tested positive at Regional Tuberculosis Laboratory, Pokhara, two from Rupandehi at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal, one from Salyan at Surkhet Provincial Hospital and coronavirus has been confirmed in 25 people from Bajhang, 53 people from Kailali and one person from Kanchanpur at Seti Provincial Hospital Dhangadhi.

A total of 6,993 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, he said.

Meanwhile, 93 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals and isolation centers after recovery. A total of 14,492 have recovered across the country so far.

A total of 856 people have returned home after recovery in Province 1, 3,149 in Province 2, 532 in Bagmati Province, 1, 1,256 in Gandaki Province, 3,971 in Province 5, 1,718 in Karnali Province and 3,010 in Sudurpaschim Province so far, he shared.

At present, 5,338 people are in isolation and 11,533 are in quarantines.

Nepal’s death toll stands at 56, Spokesperson Dr. Gautam said.
