18,000 Nepalis enter Nepal via Gaddachauki in past one week

KANCHANPUR: As many as 18,000 Nepali people have entered Nepal via Gaddachauki checkpoint of Kanchanpur district in the past one week.

Meanwhile, over 1,000 Indian nationals have returned to India via the same checkpoint.

The movement of people increased after the local administration on May 25 opened the checkpoint to rescue Nepali people stranded in India.

According to the statistics maintained by the Armed Police Force, a total of 17, 920 have entered Nepal from May 25 to 30.

Likewise, 1,377 Indians returned home in the same period.

Battalion Commander of Armed Police Force Battalion 35 said the India-returnees were sent back to their respective districts after conducting health screenings on them.
