KATHMANDU: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokharel said he has not floated the proposal that a private school should take the responsibility to improve the quality education of a public school.

Minister Pokharel said so during a deliberation on the budget for the fiscal year 2020/21 which is under consideration in the parliament.

Taking part in the deliberation on the budget on Sunday, Minister Pokharel said the point number 166 of the budget is not the concept of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

“The task of improvement of quality education of the public schools is our common responsibility. Private schools can contribute to the enhancement of the quality education of the public schools to the extent the latter deem necessary,” said Pokharel adding, “The management and the ownership will not change.”

He further suggested that the government should establish a fund for the consolidation of the public schools.

The budget has laid down a provision that a private school has to contribute to the quality education of at one public school under the social responsibility.
