KATHMANDU: American Ambassador to Nepal Randy Berry has applauded the Nepal government’s action to shut down all the North Korean businesses in Nepal.

Posting a tweet on the official twitter account of the US Embassy in Kathmandu, Ambassador Berry lauded the Nepal government’s action that led to the closer to all the North Korean businesses in the Himalayan country complying with the UN resolutions.

Berry tweeted this comment in response to the Khabarhub’s recently published news on the issue headlined North Korean ‘pack up’ all business in Nepal.

North Korean investors have shut down all their businesses in Nepal after a series of caveats from the Nepali authorities, and mounting pressure and monitoring from the UN and the United States.

In the latest development, 10 North Koreans staying illegally in Nepal at the protection of the Kathmandu-based North Korean Embassy have been deported on December 15.

Khabarhub had carried out a series of stories on how North Koreans were misusing Nepal’s soil to make money. The North Koreans were operating businesses such as restaurants, hospitals, and software companies in Nepal before Khabarhub exposed their illegal activities here.
