Minister Magar vows to conserve ponds, water spouts in Valley

KATHMANDU: Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar has said plans would be made to conserve, promote and beautify ponds, lakes and stone water spouts within Kathmandu Valley.

Inaugurating a book published by Kathmandu Valley Water Supply Management Board on old ponds and water spouts in the Valley, Minister Magar stressed on the need of conversing ponds and stone water spouts.

“Ponds and water spouts are bearing the brunt of modernization and urbanization,” she said, emphasizing the need to conserve them.

She was of the opinion that traditional ponds and water spouts can become a major touristic destination.

The book was published after carrying out a detailed study of ponds and water spouts in 10 municipalities of Kathmandu Valley.
