Can’t return to Rana rule by rejecting MCC: Sarita Giri

KATHMANDU:  Samajwadi Party (SP) Nepal lawmaker Sarita Giri has asserted that we cannot return to despotic Rana rule by rejecting the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Writing a comment on her twitter account, SP leader Giri said Nepal is heading towards despotic and isolated Rana regime by not endorsing it.

Leader Giri’s comment has came at a time when the MCC has been seen with suspicion by a section of the society, mainly a handful of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leaders, while former diplomats and economists have unanimously urged parliamentarians to endorse it without further delay.

The MCC is a bilateral United States foreign aid agency established by the US Congress in 2004. It is an independent agency separate from the State Department and USAID.
