Govt trying to muzzle up press freedom, says Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said the incumbent government was trying to muzzle up the freedom of the press.

At a festive greetings exchange program organized by Nepal National Magar Association State-3 committee here today, President Deuba argued the NC would never compromise in defending free press as it was a backbone of democracy.

On the occasion, President Deuba, also the former Prime Minister, urged the government to reinstate three journalists working in Radio Nepal Dipayal Office. These journalists were recently sacked there.
