KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has termed the ‘Occupy Tundikhel Campaign’ as a positive move.

The ‘Occupy Tundikhel Campaign’ that began some two weeks ago aims at putting pressure on the concerned authority to restore and stop encroachment on Tundikhel.

KMC Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya said that the responsibility to restore and protect the cultural, religious, and historic importance of Tundikhel has fallen on the metropolis.

He vowed to do his best to bring back Tundikhel to its past condition.

Stating that the debris from Durbar High School, Dharahara Tower and Bir Hospital that were damaged in the 2015 earthquake has been deposited in Tundikhel.

“Tundikhel will be vacated once the debris is removed,” Mayor Shakya said.
