Seven-year-old killed by leopard



DAMAULI : A seven-year-old boy has been killed in a leopard attack at Phusretar of Bhanu municipality-2 in Tanahun district. The victim is Rhitik Roka of Phusretar.

The boy was attacked by a leopard on Monday night while playing in the courtyard of his house, Deputy Superintendent Lila Raj Lamichhane at the District Police Office said.

The wild cat had consumed half of the boy’s body below the waist and the remaining part was found in the jungle 100 metres away from the house, Arjun Bahadur KC, the chairman of Bhanu municipality-2, said.

According to the ward chairman KC, the leopard might have attacked the child when nobody was at home. The boy boy’s body was found when a search was launched after not finding him in home, KC added.

The boy’s father, Raju, has gone missing since the last six years. A leopard was captured in a cage kept in a community forest at Bhanu municipality-3 on Monday morning alone. Six children have so far died in leopard attacks at wards 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the municipality in the last one and half years.
