KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology on Sunday said that monsoon is likely to remain active for 10 more days.
Monsoon, which generally lasts up to September 23, has not shown any sign to exit, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
Senior meteorologist Shanti Kandel stated that monsoon is likely to prevail for another 10 days given the active monsoon system in the eastern part of Nepal.
This is likely to cause light to moderate rain in the country’s eastern and central parts.
According to her, the monsoon trough has been positioned towards southern direction than its average position.
Likewise, the extended monsoon is also attributed to the continuity of moisture-laden winds coming from the Bay of Bengal, senior meteorologist Indira Kandel said.
On the contrary, the Meteorological Forecasting Division had early today said that the weather conditions would gradually improve from Monday.
The Division had said that the country will see sunshine from Monday onwards as the clouds have started moving towards the east.
