Nepal-China border security talks indecisive

HUMLA: Talks between security officials of Nepal and China to control crimes on the Nepal-China border ended inconclusively.

Chief District Officer Binita Bhattarai of Jumla led the Nepali team of the talks held at Taklakot in Burang County of China while Qui Shi of Burang County led the Chinese side.

According to Bhattarai, no concrete decision was taken as the authorized Chinese and Nepali officials did not join the talks.

CDO Bhattarai said discussions were held about the Chinese side conducting strict checking in the movement of Tibetan nationals at border transit points.

She added that the talks remained inconclusive as she did not sign in the agenda brought by the Chinese side. Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs has not instructed her to sign any agreement during the talks.

During the meeting, the Chinese side had proposed that the Nepali authorities stopped Tibetans from traveling to India via Nepal without a visa, among others.
