Deuba accuses govt of curtailing press freedom



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has accused the incumbent government of compressing the right to freedom of opinion and expression and the press freedom.

In his address to a program organized here today to honor those people born in Sunkoshi rural municipality in Sindhupalchowk and earning fame in different walks of life in the society, the former Prime Minister said attempts to weaken the press was to take the country towards totalitarianism.

The former Prime Minister took time to blame the local government for increasing economic burden on locals by increasing taxable areas.
