Spain’s Socialists win election

MADRID: Spain’s center-left Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE) has won the general election, media reports said.

A far-right party will now enter Spain’s parliament for the first time after dictator General Franco’s rule ended in 1975.

The Vox party won 24 out of a total 350 seats, reports said.

In the election with 75.8 percent turnout, the governing PSOE took 123 seats. It is likely to seek the support of other parties to form a government.

To control the parliament, a total of 176 seats is required. (Agencies)
