Water ambulance sent to diarrhea-hit Gulmi village

KATHMANDU: The Division for Drinking Water and Sewage under Ministry for Water Supply has sent a water ambulance to Dajakot of Musikot Municipality-4 in Gulmi that has witnessed a diarrhea epidemic.

The ambulance was sent to purify drinking water in the area following the direction from Minister for Water Supply Bina Magar.

The ministry has also sent a team of experts to the epidemic-hit area along with chemicals for purifying water.

The number of people suffering from the epidemic that broke last Sunday has reached 200. It has been said coliform was detected in the water. Presence of coliform bacteria indicates that water is polluted with feces or sewage

The source of drinking water that 85 households had been using regularly for the past one year is believed as the major perpetrator for diarrhea.
