KATHMANDU: Visiting Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Friday.
During the meeting that was held at the President Office, Shital Niwas, President Bhandari commended Bhosle for her notable contribution to the Nepali music industry, according to Founding Director of Sadhana Kala Kendra, Milan Moktan. Moktan said, “President Bhandari was very impressed by the songs of Bhosle.” Furthermore, Moktan informed that during the meeting, the two discussed about contemporary scenario of Nepal.
The 80-year-old famed Indian singer, according to Moktan, shared with the President that she was very happy as with the hospitality she was accorded in Nepal.
She was especially buoyed by the traditional reception received at the airport upon her arrival, said Moktan, quoting Bhosle. Bhosle, following the meeting, took to Twitter and extended her thankfulness to the Head of the State of Nepal for hosting her at the Shital Niwas. Bhosle has sung many Nepali hits like ‘Yo ho mero praan bhanda pyaaro maitighar’, ‘Gairikhet ko sirai hanyo’, ‘Mohani lagla hai’ among others.
Bhosle arrived in Nepal on Wednesday at the invitation of Sadhana Kala Kendra, Putalisadak. She is scheduled to sing around four songs at an event on Saturday for which a troupe of 35 artists will accompany her on the stage, including noted Indian singers as Anuradga Paudwal, Sanjeevani, Deepa Narayan Jha, and Sadhana Sargam.
